Barcelona is very closely linked to Catholicism and the church. Catholicism plays a very important and traditional role in Catalan culture. Catalonia has been influenced by Catholicism for centuries.
I myself, come from a Catholic background and one of my favorite parts about Barcelona was its variety of beautiful churches. I pretty much had the opportunity to visit all of them. Several of them were built with Romanesque qualities except for the most famous church in the world based in Barcelona; la Sagrada Familia.
My two favorite churches that I visted in Barcelona were la Sagrada Familia and la Santa Maria del Mar.
