Pa Amb Tomaquet

One of my favorite Catalan styled tapas is Pa amb tomaquet. It’s toasted bread with tomato, olive oil, and salt and pepper. I always enjoyed ordering this when I would go out to eat at a Catalan restaurant.

What makes this tapa so special? Well, what makes it so traditional is the way it is prepared. Catalans actually rub the tomato directly into the bread before putting it on top which gives the toast a very tomato specific taste. The tomatoes are always so fresh and home grown and I who doesn’t love bread. It is the perfect combination for an appetizer!
